Responsibilities

As a Patient Access Representative – Registration, your primary responsibilities will include:

Patient Registration:

  • Accurately collect and enter patient demographic and insurance information into our electronic health records (EHR) system.
  • Verify patient identity and ensure all required forms are completed and signed.
  • Update patient records as needed to maintain accuracy and compliance.

Insurance Verification:

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility using online portals or by contacting insurance providers directly.
  • Communicate any co-pays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket expenses to patients in a clear and compassionate manner.

Customer Service:

  • Greet patients and visitors with a warm and professional demeanor.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information about services, appointments, and policies.
  • Address patient concerns and escalate issues to the appropriate department when necessary.

Data Entry and Record Maintenance:

  • Ensure all patient information is entered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Assist with filing, scanning, and organizing patient records as needed.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with clinical staff, billing departments, and other team members to ensure a smooth patient flow.
  • Participate in training and team meetings to stay updated on policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with billing and coding teams to resolve any insurance-related issues.

Required Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional certification in healthcare administration or related field is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in patient registration, insurance verification, or a similar role in a healthcare setting.
  • Medical Terminology: Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Data Entry Proficiency: Excellent typing skills and experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Customer Service: A customer-focused mindset with the ability to handle difficult situations with empathy and patience.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with insurance verification tools.

Work Schedule and Benefits

This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional weekends or overtime may be required based on organizational needs.
