Job Summary

An essential aspect of our food service department’s everyday operations is the cook/food service worker. In addition to making sure the kitchen and service facilities are stocked, clean, and orderly, this role is in charge of preparing, cooking, and serving food products in compliance with food safety regulations. The ideal applicant will be dedicated to upholding high standards for food preparation and service, have a positive outlook, and have a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities

Cooking and Food Preparation

  • Using standardized recipes and menu standards, prepare and cook a range of meals.
  • Make sure that every food item is prepared and served promptly, at the right temperatures.
  • Make sure meals are aesthetically pleasing, nutrient-dense, and of the greatest caliber by keeping an eye on food quality and presentation.

Sanitation and Safety

  • Observe all hygienic, safety, and health requirements as specified by local health authorities and business rules.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen and spaces used for food preparation.
    To avoid infection, handle and store food according to the right procedures.

Customer Service

  • Serve every customer with courtesy and friendliness.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to any questions or issues raised by customers.
  • When necessary, help serve meals and drinks.

Inventory and Supplies

  • Monitor inventory levels of food, beverages, and supplies.
  • Notify management of low stock levels so that sufficient supplies are on hand.
  • Help in the secure and orderly receipt and storage of food and supplies.

Team Collaboration

  • To guarantee effective service, collaborate closely with other food service and kitchen employees.
  • Effectively communicate with managers and other team members.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: It is advantageous to have prior restaurant, food service, or institutional food preparation experience.
    understanding of portion control, food safety procedures, and fundamental culinary methods.

Certifications

Food Handler’s Permit or a certification that is comparable, or the capacity to get one within the first 30 days of starting work.

  • Excellent written and vocal communication abilities.

  • The ability to work a variety of hours, including weekends, holidays, late nights, and early mornings when necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to stand for long times.
  • The ability to lift and move up to thirty pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to safely handle culinary items, kitchenware, and equipment.
  • The capacity to frequently stoop, bend, and reach.

Working Conditions

The workplace for this role is a professional kitchen. A cook or other food service worker may come into contact with hot surfaces, sharp objects, and temperatures that fluctuate. All safety regulations must be followed, and the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied.
