Responsibilities
Develop and Implement HSE Programs:
- Design and execute comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs tailored to the organization’s needs.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the organization complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other governing bodies.
- Stay updated on changes in legislation and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver training programs to employees on topics such as workplace safety, emergency response, and environmental stewardship.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness throughout the organization.
Incident Management:
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records of incidents and ensure timely reporting to regulatory authorities when required.
Sustainability Initiatives:
- Lead efforts to reduce the organization’s environmental footprint by implementing sustainable practices and initiatives.
- Monitor and report on key environmental performance indicators, such as energy consumption, waste management, and carbon emissions.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire drills, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Coordinate with local emergency services to ensure a swift and effective response to emergencies.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, management, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to promote HSE best practices.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field is required. It is advantageous to have a master’s degree or professional certification (such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM).
- Experience: At least three to five years of experience managing environmental, health, and safety issues, ideally in a related field.
- Knowledge: A thorough comprehension of the EPA, OSHA, and other pertinent laws. It is beneficial to be familiar with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. competence with HSE management software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
